Professor Nguyễn Thanh Liêm (Nguyen Thanh Liem) is one of the most influential medical scientists in the field of pediatric hematology and oncology in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. In 2019, he was selected as one of the "Top 100 Scientists in Asia" by the journal Asian Scientist. He pioneered pediatric liver and kidney transplantation in Vietnam, performed the first laparoscopic surgery for a child in Asia, and initiated clinical applications of stem cell therapy for refractory pediatric diseases such as cerebral palsy, autism, and biliary atresia. For decades, he has led the development of diagnostic and treatment systems for severe pediatric hematologic disorders and malignant tumors in Vietnam.
